India has produced many great motorcycles. But until 1 December 2024, no Indian-built machine โ petrol or electric โ had ever crossed the quarter-mile in under 11 seconds. That changed at Aamby Valley Circuit, when the Ultraviolette F99 completed a standing 400 metres in a certified 10.712 seconds, earning an official FMSCI timing record and permanently rewriting what Indian engineering is capable of.
This is not a concept bike or a trade show prop. The F99 is a working, FMSCI-validated race machine that has been built, broken, rebuilt, and tested on actual Indian tarmac. After setting its quarter-mile record, Ultraviolette took the bike to NATRAX โ the National Automotive Test Tracks in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh โ India’s only high-speed oval, to chase the outright top speed record for any Indian-manufactured motorcycle. To mark the record, Ultraviolette launched “The Fastest Indian” โ a limited merchandise collection of exactly 99 units, each bearing the race livery worn by the record-setting bike.
A road-going production version is on its way. The Ultraviolette F99 STD is expected to launch around March 19, 2026, with a projected price of โน7.5โโน8 lakh. In this review, we cover everything โ all four variants, complete specifications, real-world impressions, comparisons, and exactly who should buy it.

Ultraviolette Automotive Background, Inspiration behind Ultraviolette F99
Ultraviolette Automotive was founded in Bengaluru in 2015 by two childhood friends โ Narayan Subramaniam (CEO) and Niraj Rajmohan (CTO). The two grew up competing in robotics and engineering competitions together, went separate ways โ Subramaniam into automotive engineering, Rajmohan into software at Yahoo โ and reunited to build India’s first genuine high-performance electric motorcycle from scratch.
Their first road bike, the F77, launched commercially in 2022 and became India’s best-selling high-performance electric motorcycle almost immediately. The F77 Mach 2 followed in 2024, with improved power, faster charging, and a formal European launch at EUR 9,990 in Germany, Turkey, Austria, and Switzerland โ making Ultraviolette the first Indian electric motorcycle brand to formally enter European retail with a confirmed price.
The F99 was always the next step. A purpose-built race machine designed to force the engineering team into solving problems that no road bike programme ever demands โ active aerodynamics, sustained 90 kW output under lap-pace heat stress, 400V fast charging under race conditions. Every answer feeds back into the next generation of road bikes. The F99 is the upstream source of all Ultraviolette technology.
The company has raised over $145 million from investors including TVS Motor Company (28% strategic stake), Zoho Corporation, Qualcomm Ventures, TDK Ventures, and Lingotto โ the Agnelli family investment office connected to Fiat and Ferrari. An IPO is targeted for FY2027.

Ultraviolette F99 Factory Racing Platform (FRP)

This is the record-setter. The F99 Factory Racing Platform is a closed-circuit race machine โ not street-legal, built exclusively for motorsport and track days.
Who Is It For? Racing teams, private track-day riders, motorsport academies, and anyone wanting to compete in electric motorcycle racing on Indian or international circuits.
What Makes It Different?ย Every component is tuned for maximum performance with zero compromise toward road usability. No mirrors, no indicators, no horn, no headlight. The footpegs are adjustable rear-sets for a committed, forward-leaning race crouch. The seat foam is stiffer and slimmer to keep the rider locked in under hard braking.

Standout Features:
- Active Aerodynamicsย โ Electronically controlled winglets adjust their angle in real time based on speed and lean angle. At full acceleration, they push the front wheel down. Mid-corner, they balance aerodynamic load across both axles โ exactly as on MotoGP prototypes.
- Aerodisk + Faceplateย โ The aerodisk sits behind the front wheel and eliminates the turbulent vortex created by spinning wheel spokes at 200+ km/h. The flat faceplate manages air pressure at the nose, directing flow into cooling ducts rather than around them.
- Soft Compound Race Tyresย โ The FRP runs soft-compound Pirelli rubber that operates at peak grip within the first heated lap โ not designed for longevity, but for maximum mechanical traction when it matters.
- Full Data Loggingย โ Onboard telemetry simultaneously records throttle position, lean angle, brake pressure, motor output, individual battery cell temperatures, and lap times. Data can be downloaded and analysed after every session.
- Adjustable Rider Triangleย โ Handlebar position, footpeg height, and seat angle can all be independently set to suit any rider’s height or preferred racing posture.
Ultraviolette F99 STD (Road-Legal Version)
This is the version Indian buyers are waiting for. The F99 STD takes the Factory Racing Platform and makes it fully road-legal โ with the same chassis, powertrain, and aerodynamics intact.
What Changes from the FRP?ย LED projector headlights, turn indicators, mirrors, and a horn are added. ABS defaults to always-on, with a track mode available for circuit use. Tyres switch from soft-compound race rubber to a high-performance road compound like the Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa โ grip plus durability for daily riding. A full-colour TFT navigation dashboard replaces the stripped-back race display.

Standout Features:
- Active Aerodynamicsย โ The same electronically controlled winglets from the FRP carry over to the road version. At highway speeds above 180 km/h, they generate meaningful front-axle downforce, keeping the bike planted. At city speeds, they reduce drag for better efficiency.
- LED Projector Headlightsย โ Unlike the basic LED reflector setups on most Indian electric bikes, the F99 STD gets projector-type headlights normally found only on premium European sports bikes.
- Four Riding Modesย โ Rain, Street, Sport, and Track each independently adjust power delivery, traction control intervention, regenerative braking strength, and ABS sensitivity.
- 4-Level Regenerative Brakingย โ Level 0 is pure coasting (zero drag). Level 3 is aggressive enough to replace the rear brake for most deceleration โ similar in feel to hard engine braking on a 1000cc petrol bike.
- OTA Firmware Updatesย โ Ultraviolette pushes software improvements wirelessly. New riding mode calibrations, ABS tuning, or battery management upgrades arrive without needing a dealer visit.
- Passenger Footrest Includedย โ Unlike pure race replicas that omit pillion equipment, the F99 STD ships with a passenger footrest fitted as standard.
Ultraviolette F99 Concept X (Teased at EICMA 2024)
At EICMA 2024 in Milan โ the same stage where Ultraviolette formally launched the F77 Mach 2 for European buyers โ the company teased a third direction for the F99 platform. Internally called Concept X, this is a road-biased electric adventure-sport concept that pushes the F99 architecture toward a more versatile, all-conditions machine rather than a pure circuit weapon.
What We Known:
- Road-biased positioning โ more practical riding posture than the FRP, suited to real-world mixed roads
- Possibleย solid-state battery cellsย in partnership with TDK Ventures โ Ultraviolette’s existing investor and global battery component leader
- More aggressive full-aero package โ full-length underbelly tray, larger winglet surface area
- Potential output: 110โ120 kW (147โ160 BHP)
- No confirmed price or launch timeline
Ultraviolette F99 Lite / Junior (Rumoured)
In investor meetings and press interactions, Ultraviolette leadership has hinted at a scaled-down F99 derivative that brings the platform’s core DNA to buyers who cannot stretch to โน8 lakh.
What Has Been Hinted:
- Motor: 50โ60 kW (~67โ80 BHP)
- Battery: 10โ12 kWh
- Weight: Under 160 kg
- Target price: โน5โ7 Lakh
- Target buyer: Riders stepping up from 200โ300cc petrol bikes wanting electric performance without crossing โน8 lakh
- No confirmed specs, price, or launch date

The bottom line:ย If you commute daily and want the best range-to-price ratio in an electric motorcycle, theย F77 Generation 2ย is the smarter choice โ it is available now, cheaper, and has a longer city range. Theย F99 STDย is for the rider who wants the fastest, most technically advanced Indian motorcycle ever built, does not mind the higher price, and values track-ready performance over everyday practicality.
Ultraviolette F99 Looks and Design ( Fighter Jet Logic on Two Wheels )

Ultraviolette says the F99’s design was inspired by supersonic jets and fighter aircraft โ and that is not just marketing copy. Every panel, every gap, every protrusion on the F99 is doing aerodynamic work. Nothing is purely decorative.
Key Design Elements:
- Faceplateย โ The flat, forward-facing nose panel manages pressure build-up at high speed, channelling air into cooling ducts instead of letting it pile up and create drag.
- Active Wingletsย โ Unlike static winglets on most sports bikes, the F99’s winglets physically pivot in real time โ generating front-axle downforce under acceleration and rebalancing loads through corners.
- Aerodiskย โ Positioned behind the front wheel, this disc-shaped panel eliminates the turbulent air vortex thrown off by spinning wheel spokes at 200+ km/h โ a phenomenon that causes aerodynamic instability at race speed.
- Carbon Fibre Body Panelsย โ Every external panel is carbon fibre. The battery casing is also carbon fibre โ not just to save weight, but because the material absorbs high-frequency vibration that would otherwise fatigue battery cells on sustained fast runs.
- Split Seatย โ Locks the rider forward during hard acceleration and braking, preventing the backward slide that occurs on a flat seat under aggressive throttle inputs.
Colours Available:
- Meteor Grey
- Plasma Red
What It Actually Feels Like to Ride
Full press ride reviews of the F99 STD road version are not yet published since it has not launched. However, Ultraviolette has run controlled media sessions with the Factory Racing Platform, and consistent impressions have emerged across publications.
The defining experience is the instant torque at low speed. A petrol superbike builds power through its rev range โ you have a fraction of a second to process what is coming. The F99’s 972 Nm of wheel torque arrives the instant the throttle cracks open. From a standstill, the electronics are working hard to keep the front wheel on the ground. Even at 80 km/h, a sharp input produces acceleration that most 600cc petrol bikes cannot keep up with.
The active aerodynamics are consistently described as invisible stability. Through fast sweeping corners at 160+ km/h, where most bikes begin to feel nervous and require constant steering corrections, the F99 reportedly holds its line with unusual composure โ a direct result of the winglets distributing downforce across both axles through the turn.
The รhlins suspension delivers a quality of front-end feedback rarely found on Indian motorcycles at any price. Test riders describe knowing exactly how close to the limit the front tyre is โ a level of communication typically reserved for European race replicas costing โน25 lakh or more.
The Level 3 regenerative braking is strong enough to handle most deceleration without touching the rear brake. It takes one or two sessions to adapt to the throttle-off deceleration feel, but once dialled in, it is seamless โ no jerk, no chassis upset mid-corner.
Ultraviolette F99 vs Global Electric Superbikes
| Bike | Origin | Peak Power | 0โ100 km/h | Top Speed | Kerb Weight | India Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| โก Ultraviolette F99 | ๐ฎ๐ณ India | 120 BHP / 90 kW | 3.0 sec | 265 km/h | 178 kg | ~โน8 Lakh |
| Energica Ego+ | ๐ฎ๐น Italy | 169 BHP / 126 kW | 2.6 sec | 240 km/h | 260 kg | ~โน30โ35 Lakh |
| Zero SR/F | ๐บ๐ธ USA | 110 BHP / 82 kW | 3.5 sec | 200 km/h | 220 kg | ~โน20 Lakh |
| Damon HyperSport | ๐จ๐ฆ Canada | 200 BHP / 150 kW | ~3.0 sec | 322 km/h | 220 kg | โน40 Lakh+ |
| Kawasaki Ninja EV | ๐ฏ๐ต Japan | 14 BHP / 10 kW | โ | 140 km/h | 140 kg | ~โน5โ6 Lakh |
| BMW CE 04 | ๐ฉ๐ช Germany | 42 BHP / 31 kW | โ | 120 km/h | 231 kg | ~โน14โ16 Lakh |
The F99 is theย lightest by a large marginย โ 82 kg lighter than the Energica Ego+. That weight advantage matters more on a real track than raw peak power numbers: faster direction changes, shorter braking distances, better corner entry. The Energica makes more power, but the F99’s power-to-weight ratio ofย 0.67 kW/kgย is competitive with anything on this list. And at โน8 lakh versus โน30 lakh for the nearest rival, the price-to-performance equation is not close.
Battery and Charging, All we need to know
The F99 uses a 400V NMC (Nickel Manganese Cobalt) lithium-ion battery housed in a carbon fibre casing. NMC chemistry is chosen over the LFP cells found in budget EVs because it delivers higher peak power and performs better in cold weather. The 400V system enables faster energy transfer โ which is why DC fast charging takes 30 minutes here versus 90+ minutes on 48V scooter systems.
Charging Options:
- DC Fast Charging (CCS2)ย โ 0โ80% in ~30 minutes at a 50 kW station. Works with Tata Power EV, Statiq, ChargeZone, and Ather Grid.
- AC Home Charging (Type 2)ย โ Full charge in ~4โ5 hours from a 7.2 kW home wallbox.
- Portable 5A Chargerย โ Emergency top-up from any standard socket; adds ~30โ40 km per hour.
Real-World Range Expectations:
- City (stop-start, moderate speed): 280โ307 km
- Mixed riding (highway + city): 220โ250 km
- Track/sport pace: 150โ200 km
- Full race pace: 80โ120 km
